Farm Equipment - Motor Vehicle Crash Prevention Conference
Conference Objectives
The objectives for the Farm Equipment-Motor Crash Prevention Conference hosted by the Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health (GPCAH) are to:
- Facilitate the presentation of information and data from the nine-state region that is related to the interaction of farm equipment and motor vehicles on public roadways.
- Provide a forum for discussion among diverse groups of stakeholders from within and among the nine-state region with interests related to the movement of farm equipment on public roadways.
- Produce recommendations for future research, data acquisition, education, training and programming needed to reduce the number of crashes involving farm equipment and motor vehicles.
- Reach consensus on specific goals and measureable outcomes to promote throughout the nine-state region to reduce the overall number, severity and amount of property damage in farm equipment and motor vehicle crashes.
- Allow each state contingent to formalize an action plan containing individual facets to use within their state to achieve an overall reduction in the number of farm equipment and motor vehicle crashes (FEMVC) incidents and injuries.
Specific Program
The program of the conference will address the concerns and issues surrounding movement of farm equipment on public roadways and subsequent crashes involving non-farm public-sector motor vehicles. Activities include keynote presentations, presentations of summary information and data from the nine-state region on pertinent and related topics, individual state contingent work-group sessions, general discussion sessions involving all participants, and development of a draft action plan by each state to reduce FEMVC in their state. Integral to the evaluation of the conference will be on-site participant perceptions as well as state contingent agreements to respond to follow-up surveys on activities and projected outcomes reached.
