Professional Work Groups

The FEMVCPC Work Groups were formed around similar professional backgrounds. Groups were formed around law enforcement, state agencies, farmers, driver education, and retail dealers and manufacturers. Through a facilitated discussion process the top three concerns/issues related to farm equipment and motor vehicle incidents of participants in each work group were identified. Following identification of the top three concerns, discussion then turned to suggestions of ways to address those concerns. The top three concerns and corresponding suggestions for addressing those concerns were transcribed and provided to all participants for use within the development of the state specific plans.

Sheriff/State Police
Operator Error	*This includes pre-occupation and distractions, speed control (going too fast for conditions or over the limit posted); over corrections, attitudes (not being respectful to rights of other vehicles/equipment, not stopping at stop signs, etc.), and not following proper capacity of seating for equipment/vehicle.

Operator Education	*Not learning all the rules necessary for operation - gaining proper respect, understanding responsibility for operation.
	-More education! Awareness campaigns; Educational programming - making new partnerships with law enforcement/extension; make connections to insurance companies; looking for a package of resources that is acceptable and consistent with law officers.

Visibility	*Issues with time of day, proper signage, mirrors, curvy road conditions, bad weather. These are aplying to both vehicles and ag equipment. Poor signage. More Enforcement!
	**Note: The group combimed the other topics originally offered into these three. Operator attitudes were an issue raised by was combined under Operator error.
